In order to speed up the process of issuing passports to the citizens, Erbil Passport Directorate has decided to open a second office.

Dedar omar, the office will issue passport of A category in only three days for the citizens from the city of Soran and Mergasor, Ruwanduz, and some other districts, Diyar Omar of the Erbil Directorate said in a press conference yesterday.

He did not mention when the office will get open.

The new office is expected to issue 700 to 800 passports a day. Together with the main Erbil office the issuance capacity reaches 1,800 passports daily.

Before the fall of Saddam Hussein regime only few citizens of Kurdistan region had passports. However, after Kurdistan also founded its passport offices, more and more citizens demand passport and this has overloaded the offices.
